Monitoring your stamina usage in combat is crucial to not burning out and opening yourself to attack. You’re not a machine who can unflinchingly continue to batter enemies with your staff combos without an exhaustive cost. Enhancing your ability to recover stamina more rapidly or cater to specific attack strategies is in your best interest as you progress in your journey. Below are all the skills that fall under the stamina category as well as their cost.
At close range, Tiger Vanguard may unleash a 4-hit combo with his sword. The first attack is a quick kick into two quick slashes , while the final slash is very delayed and can be challenging to avoid. The boss may also follow up with another 3-hit sword combo , where all three strikes are done in quick succession.
Smash Stance also allows you to move around freely while charging a heavy attack and can even be used to charge while sprinting if you purchase the appropriate upgrade, making it a great stance with which to initiate fights. Running in with a fully-charged heavy attack can shave tons of health off an enemy or crush weaker foes in a single blow. That said, Smash Stance’s attacks aren’t great at hitting multiple targets unless they’re standing in a straight line when you go for a Skyfall Strike, so you’ll probably want to swap to Pillar Stance for that.
Enemies are often the best sources for crafting materials that help you upgrade your armor and weaponry. If you find yourself lacking in any of these items, grind an area with easily defeated foes so that you can collect the materials necessary. Below is a list of all crafting materials available.
The second available Stance, unlockable once you’ve invested a total of five Sparks , is Pillar Stance. This stance can seem underwhelming at first glance but truly shines when facing off against groups or enemies with wide-reaching attacks that travel along the ground. Pillar Stance’s heavy attack allows you to perch atop your staff for as long as you hold the button, extending the staff based on how many focus points you have. Perching puts you beyond the reach of most melee attacks, though attacks striking the staff will drain your stamina and you’ll be knocked down if it runs out. Releasing the heavy attack button will cause you to drop, performing a long-reaching slam with the extended staff that can easily strike multiple foes.
As the name implies, this tree is completely focused on bolstering the Destined One’s combat prowess. These skills are both active and passive. Below are the skills you can expect to obtain under this tree.
Ingredients for medicine can often be foraged. They’re fairly noticeable as you traverse the terrain. The game highlights objects that can be foraged with glimmer effects. Below is a list of all ingredients available in-game.
This skill tree helps bolster your resilience to the damage enemies can inflict on you. For starters, this is where you can upgrade your health meter. However, you can also bolster your resistance toward any of the four banes (status effects) that some hostiles can wield: burn , poison , chill , and shock damage. There are also skills that help boost the recovery rates of your various meters. Below is a complete listing of these skills under this branch and the costs associated with each.
In Black Myth: Wukong , you’ll inevitably need to craft armor and weapon upgrades. As your foes become faster and stronger, you’ll need better equipment. Often, the materials you need to collect in order to craft these updates can be obtained from common foes, elites, or treasure chests. Furthermore, you’ll want to forage the flora as you make your way through each world. These are often ingredients that can be used in crafting medicines with varying effects and protections.
Keeping with the theme of darting in and out of melee range, Thrust Stance’s variable combo (once unlocked) performs a backstep when you use a heavy attack during a light attack combo, carrying you back a short distance. If you tap heavy attack again and have at least one focus point, you can follow this with a ranged jab similar to the stance’s heavy attack which can be followed up with Whirling Thrusts if desired. With the right upgrades, you can also transition Whirling Thrusts into the Tactical Retreat backstep to disengage.
This attack is easy to predict. As soon as you see Tiger Vanguard assume the stance, be ready for this. You can easily avoid the entire combo by dodging . The final hit is slow and can be easily avoided even if your dodge timing is off.
Stance switching is instantaneous in Black Myth Wukong Strategy Myth: Wukong , allowing you to quickly shift if you need access to a different heavy attack or variable combo. That said, knowing when to use each stance and how each stance performs against different types of opponent is the key to success, so here’s a breakdown of every Stance in an effort to answer the question: “Which Stance is Best?”
Defeating Tiger Vanguard rewards the player with the Key Item, Keeness of Tiger, alongside the Rock Solid spell . If you’ve also defeated the Stone Vanguard boss, you’ll be able to progress the story by interacting with the small statue in Tiger Vanguard’s boss arena . Doing so will open the way to the Yellow Wind Sage, the final boss of Chapter 2.
