So when Behaviour Interactive announces a new asymmetrical multiplayer action game that seems highly similar to their still-quite-successful title Dead by Daylight, one may be tempted to roll their eyes. But Behaviour aren’t doing this to get lighting to strike, they’re doing it simply because they love the concept of asymmetrical gameplay and want to explore what else they can do with it. Hence their new title Deathgarden, which puts the focus on a futuristic death sport as opposed to survival horror. It’s interesting, but does this new setup still carry a spark within it as well?

Our new killer is called The Spirit. She is based in Japanese horror lore, which deals a lot in ancestors and spiritual power. The Spirit can “phase-walk” using her power called Yamaoka’s Haunting, which allows her to travel to a different plane. While in the separate plane, The Spirit is invisible to survivors, save for a husk she leaves behind. However, there is a catch. While in the spirit world, she can no longer see survivors or their blood trails. This ability lasts five seconds at a time and allows The Spirit to move 45% faster than she normally can.
First up, Steve Harrington will feature the perks Babysitter, Camaraderie, and Second Wind. Babysitter lets Steve unhook survivors without them leaving a blood trail or scratch marks. It also allows Steve and the Killer to see each other’s aura for a short time. Camaraderie pauses the Struggle Phase timer briefly if another Survivor gets close. For Second Wind, if Steve heals a Survivor, this perk activates. It gives him the ability to self-heal after getting unhooked as long as he remains outside of the terror radius.
